| Fourth Generation Louisiana Divorce Lawyer Call (504) 681-2003 for individualized attention. |
Louisiana has different types of divorce. If you were married in a traditional ceremony, you can file a divorce complaint with the courts and work through the process of negotiation, mediation or trial. If you entered into a covenant marriage, you will have limited grounds for divorce and must first pursue counselling and then you are able to go through the courts.
We work with clients at all stages of a divorce, from the initial filing through negotiation, mediation and trial if necessary. We handle all matters arising out of a marital breakup, including the division of marital property. We can help you understand how marital assets are allocated under Louisiana's community property laws.
We also represent and advise individuals and families in matters related to child custody, visitation and child support. To learn more about that aspect of our practice, see our family law.
If you are considering filing for divorce in the metro New Orleans area, you need an experienced Louisiana divorce attorney to protect your interests. Unlike any other state, Louisiana follows the civil law. Your lawyer will need to be familiar with Louisiana law and procedure. Contact our offices to schedule a confidential consultation.
