Autumn Town began her legal career as an associate at a local New Orleans defense firm, before opening her own law practice in December of 2007.
Autumn has experience defending misdemeanors and felonies in state court, as well as federal criminal prosecutions. She also has experience handling direct appeals in criminal convictions in both state and federal court. Autumn has prepared and presented briefs and oral arguments before the Louisiana Circuit Courts, and had the opportunity to orally argue before the Louisiana Supreme Court on Lea Filson v. Windsor Court, et al, 907 So.2d 723 (La. 2005).
She has worked on such federal cases as the Habeas Petition of convicted New Orleans police officer Len Davis, and in her first post-conviction matter where she served as first-chair, a second degree murder conviction was reversed based on Brady material being withheld from the defense at trial. She also is working on the case of John Kinsel, whose conviction and life sentence were reversed when the alleged victim recanted her trial testimony. See La. Judge Orders New Trial for Man Serving Life for Rape, The Advocate, October 12, 2006. Autumn argued before the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals concerning the issue of Mr. Kinsel's actual innocence, and took the case to the United States Supreme Court. She is continuing to fight for Mr. Kinsel's exoneration.
