Protective Orders are issued for the purpose of preventing violent or threatening acts or harassment against, contact or communication with, or physical proximity to, another person to prevent domestic abuse or dating violence. They may be issued to prevent harm to yourself or your children. Once a Protective Order has been granted, it is filed and registered with the LPOR
The Louisiana Protective Order Registry (LPOR) is a statewide repository of court orders issued to prohibit domestic abuse and dating violence. The registry was established by legislative act (La. R.S. 46:2136.2) in 1997, for the purpose of enhancing court-ordered protections for victims and their minor children, and to aid law enforcement, prosecutors and the courts in handling cases involving intimate partner violence
Like everything, Protective Orders are often abused and are issued under unsubstantiated grounds and baseless allegations. Our attorneys are well acquianted with the prosecution and defense of Protective Orders.
